Acupuncture: More Common than You May Think

Acupuncture

As a Charlotte chiropractor certified in acupuncture, I get asked a lot about acupuncture.  Once thought of as a strange, foreign and a mystical new-age approach to helping fix troubles with the body and mind, acupuncture has become a much more widely accepted practice, not to mention a much more commonly used approach to working through certain health issues. There are many reasons why acupuncture is quickly becoming a more common practice.

  • Patients suffering with certain problems would much rather find a more natural approach to their problems. Those looking for a way around relying on medication or turning to surgery have often times found this a wonderful alternative.
  • It is affordable and is often recognized as a treatment by health insurance companies. If you have ever considered trying acupuncture, check to see if your provider now covers acupuncture.
  • We have moved past seeing acupuncture as something weird. We also realize there is more to it than acting as nothing more than a placebo and being all in our minds. More and more people are using this, and seeing and feeling results lending more credibility to acupuncture.
  • Honestly, even though it involves needles, many patients find acupuncture relaxing. Getting past the first strange sensation you feel from the needle, you relax and find the experience soothing and calming. This alone is what some people try to find by spending countless dollars and hours at a spa.

Some people also write acupuncture off because of the use of needles. The thing that is important to know is that the needles used for acupuncture are not what you are accustomed to and actually have more of a rounded tip. Even those who have a fear of needles find acupuncture to be a pleasant experience. If you are having an issue that you could have relief from through acupuncture, why not give it a try?
