Leg Pain: Tendonitis in The Lower Leg

Leg Pain: Tendonitis in the Lower Leg

Leg Pain and Chiropractic

For some people, leg pain starts in the lower back through both legs.  Other people experience pain up the back of the legs, the front of the thighs, or the side of the legs.  Few people feel the pain only below the knee or solely in the feet or toes.

The pain location differs from each and everyone.  It depends on the neurological structures involved.  It may be described in a variety of ways: dull, sharp, heavy, aching, burning, tingling or numbness.

If you are having ongoing pain you should seek medical attention. While undergoing treatment, the pain decreases and it decreases the inflammation.  Stretches and exercises will be advised to prevent occurrences in the future.

When doing any exercise or physical activity, gradually increase the intensity.  This is the best way to prevent injuries. Also, you can ice the area.

A chiropractor can easily alleviate your leg pain. Visit your chiropractor right away to prevent a more serious injury.

Chiropractic Care

At Beyond Wellness Chiropractic Center, we first identify the root cause of your pain and work at correcting that.  We always use this kind of approach, not just cover up the problem, like painkillers do.  If the main problem is not corrected, the condition will continue to get worse.

Licensed chiropractors at Beyond Wellness use spinal adjustments to align the bones in the spine. When there is proper alignment, pressure from the nerves is relieved.  Additionally, aligned bones allow the nervous system to function.  When this happens, leg pain will be alleviated.

If you are experiencing leg pain and looking for a solution, please contact Dr. Kevin Lyons at Beyond Wellness and set up an appointment.

Achilles Tendonitis

The Achilles tendon is the band of tissue that connects the muscles at the back of the lower leg to the heel bone. Achilles tendinitis commonly occurs in runners. The first symptom that you may experience is the pain in the back of your heel. The injury makes the tendon stretch, tear and swell.

Causes of Leg Pain

–    Lack of water intake

–    Cramping muscles

–    Deficiency in nutrition

–    Medications side effects

–    Muscle strain

–    Over-fatigue

–    Joint, ligaments, or muscle injuries

–    Ankles, knees or hips injury

–    Subluxation or bone misalignment

–    Problems in discs

When ankles, knees, or hips are malfunctioning, the body cannot move properly. It causes the entire spine to have muscle tension and nerve compression.  Bone misalignment, disc degeneration, and herniation, or even osteoarthritis can cause pain from compression on the spinal nerves.  The compression of spinal nerves starts in the low back through the legs and feet.  The narrowing of the spinal cord canal, or spinal stenosis, compresses the nerve roots.

Therapeutic modalities are also used in cases of tendonitis.  Recent studies concluded the benefit of chiropractic and passive modalities to help get patients back to daily active living without pain.  When there is proper alignment, pressure from the nerves is relieved.  Additionally, aligned bones allow the nervous system to function.  When this happens, leg pain will be alleviated.
