These 4 Chiropractic Techniques Can Help You Relieve Lower Back Pain

Whether you are a new mom or a seasoned professional, you probably experience aches and pains in your low back. Carrying boxes, cleaning the house, or sitting for hours at a desk is very hard on your lower back. Even though low back pain is common you do not have to just accept it. There are alternative ways to relieve the pain.

Chiropractic care can help relieve pain without the use of medications or surgeries.

Chiropractic care focuses on four methods. These methods are adjustments, manual therapy, stretches, and electrical stimulation.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Adjustments are ways to help gently move the bones back into their proper alignment. While you may not think your back is misaligned, it can happen gradually over time and be the cause of pain. Adjustments can be made with specific tools (such as Activators or ProAdjustors) and specially designed tables to assist them.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a great alternative for someone who does not like tool adjustments. The doctor can gently massage and push the body to encourage the bones and muscles to return to the proper location. Types of adjustments are:

  1. Direct-Thrust Technique
  2. Spinal Mobilization
  3. Cervical Spine Manipulation
  4. Spine Manipulation: Velocity and Thrust

Lower back stretches

Stretching the lower back muscles enables the muscles, ligaments, and tendons to gently move back into proper alignment. This also increases the mobility of your spine. Your doctor may teach you stretching exercises for you to do at home. Most importantly, this will help to speed up your time of healing.

Electrical Stimulation

Make sure you don’t let the term electrical stimulation scare you. This is also known as TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) Unit. By using gentle electrical currents, the muscles are stimulated naturally to help them relax and relieve pain. It is not a shock-like sensation, but it is a gentle pulling or tugging feeling. Most people find this very relaxing during the 10-15 minute time frame. The doctor may add a moist heat pack or a cooling pack to the area as well, depending on your type of condition.

Chiropractic Care is a safe and helpful way to help return you back to feeling good again. You don’t have to look to pain pills for relief, as adjustments, manual therapy, lower back stretches, and electrical stimulation work very well. If you are struggling through lower back pain, don’t settle for feeling terrible. Finding relief could be as simple as a phone call away.
