PRENATAL CHIROPRACTIC

Webster Certified Chiropractor in Charlotte NC

Webster technique is a chiropractic assessment and adjustment approach. It should not be presented as a method for turning a breech baby or a guarantee of a better birth. The ICPA position statement does not endorse Webster technique as treatment for fetal malposition or in-utero constraint.

Discuss pregnancy-related symptoms and any proposed manual care with your obstetrician or midwife. Ask the practitioner about expected benefits, limitations, risks and when medical referral is needed.

Should I see a Chiropractor During Pregnancy?

Pregnancy can change posture, joint loading and how the back and pelvis feel during movement. Symptoms should be assessed individually. Pelvic alignment alone does not establish the cause of discomfort or determine how a baby will be positioned for delivery.

If your baby is breech, discuss evaluation and birth planning with your obstetric team. Options may include external cephalic version when appropriate; this is a medical procedure, not a chiropractic adjustment. See RCOG information about breech presentation.

Benefits of Chiropractic During Pregnancy?
  • Discuss assessed back or pelvic discomfort and realistic treatment goals.
  • Ask about alternatives and possible risks before manual treatment.
  • Coordinate care with your prenatal clinician.
  • Review progress rather than assuming a fixed outcome.

Chiropractic treatment does not guarantee nausea relief, shorter labor, a change in fetal position or a particular delivery outcome.

Webster Technique

Whether manual care is appropriate depends on your symptoms, pregnancy history and clinical assessment. There is no universal treatment schedule or success percentage that predicts your outcome. A technique certificate does not establish that treatment will relieve every case of pelvic pain or improve a birth outcome.

NCCIH notes that rigorous research on spinal manipulation during pregnancy is limited. Discuss benefits, risks and alternatives with your prenatal clinician and the practitioner before beginning care. See NCCIH’s evidence and safety information and our pregnancy care questions.

Do not delay obstetric assessment for concerns about fetal position, severe pain, bleeding or other warning signs. For routine Beyond Wellness appointment questions, call 704-461-1836 or email admin@beyondwellnesscc.com.
