5 Easy Ways to Get Rid of Lower Back Pain

The low back supports the entire upper body. Your back must also bend and twist constantly as the person continues through their day. Nerves found in this area are responsible for powering the entire lower body. If one of the bones, muscles, or ligaments in the area has damage, the inflammation that follows may cause a severe pain that is hard to brush off.

The good news is, lower back pain is not something that you have to live with or treat with medication. While medication only covers up the symptoms, the following remedial measures will treat the root of the problem.

There are many techniques that can help you relieve symptoms without the use of medications or surgeries.

Chiropractic Care

Treatment focuses on fixing issues of the musculoskeletal system. For lower back pain, a chiropractor will give a spinal adjustment in which the chiropractor uses their hands to reposition the vertebrae. The manipulation reduces subluxation, which increases the range of motion and frees any nerve endings that may be causing pain.

Stretching

Doing back stretches can relieve back pain. Stretching reduces the tension that muscles supporting the spine experience. The mobility of the various vertebrae increases during a stretch. Depending on how long you have been experiencing symptoms, will determine how often you need to stretch before getting stable results.

Yoga

Yoga is a popular form of movement that has given relief to many. There are all sorts of poses and exercises that help with many different health conditions. Yoga has several back stretches and poses that are particularly healing. Some of the best yoga exercises for lower back pain are Child’s Pose, Downward Facing Dog, Standing Forward Bend, Sphinx Pose, and Reclined Supine Twist.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese method of healing. A qualified acupuncturists which place small needles on important meridian points on the body. The meridian is a line through which vital energy flows. Each point has a specific reflective function within the body. Manipulation done on that specific point is meant to unblock any restrictions. Acupuncture is also a successful remedy for back pain. The needles are smaller than needles that doctors use for injections. The acupuncturist will use anywhere from 1-20 needles, and you can expect them to remain in for 15-30 minutes.

Massage

Massage is a pleasant and relaxing way of alleviating lower back pain. There are different massage techniques, so when looking for a massage therapist to fix your back problem, look for one that has training in therapeutic or neuromuscular massage. Massaging the area where the pain is, as well as the muscles around it, will relax the muscles and ligaments. A massage improves blood circulation in the area and dissipates the inflammation. Regular massage sessions are recommended in order to see improvement of pain.

All of these remedies help greatly in relieving back pain, but some are more effective than others. While stretches and massage may take a certain amount of time to get results, chiropractic care addresses the problem straight away and should be considered in severe cases of pain.
